What is Dry Herb Vaping?
Dry herb vaping is a method of inhaling active ingredients from herbs without burning them. Unlike traditional smoking, a dry herb vaporiser heats the herbs just enough to release their flavours and active compounds, without reaching combustion. This means you can enjoy your herbs without the smoke, ash, or tar.
Why Should You Vape as Opposed to Smoke?
Vaping is considered a much cleaner alternative to smoking. It eliminates many of the harmful byproducts of burning herbs, like carbon monoxide and other toxic fumes. For those looking to enjoy the essence of herbs without the harsh impact on their lungs, vaping can be a smoother, more flavourful experience.
What are the Risks of Dry Herb Vaping?
While vaping is generally less harmful than smoking, it’s not without risks. The process of heating herbs can still produce harmful chemicals, though in much lower quantities than smoking. Long-term effects of vaping are still being studied, so it’s wise to use moderation and be mindful of the temperature settings on your vaporiser to minimise risks.
What about Vape Cartridges Versus Dry Herb?
Vape cartridges use a concentrated form of the herb’s active compounds, often mixed with a solvent, packed into a disposable cartridge. These can be more convenient and discreet but often involve additional chemicals. Dry herb vaping, on the other hand, uses the natural plant itself, with no need for processing or additives, offering a purer and more natural experience.
How to Dry Herb Vape?
To start dry herb vaping, you’ll need a vaporiser designed for dry materials. You can either use an electric vaporiser, or a manual dry herb vaporiser. Our preference is a manual vaporiser that doesn’t contain batteries or any other unnecessary and risky materials. Read our review of the DynaVap M Plus here. DynaVap is our preferred dry herb vaporiser.
Fill the heating chamber or oven with your ground herbs. Do not pack it too tightly. Heat up the oven to the desired temperature and enjoy.
Lower temperatures generally produce a more flavourful vapour, while higher temperatures yield thicker clouds that hit harder.
Safer Alternatives to Dry Herb Vaping
If you’re looking for safer alternatives to both smoking and vaping, you might consider ingesting your herb. You can read more about that in our article Maximise the Effects of Eating Your Weed and you can read about the pros and cons of each method in our post Weed Consumption Methods: Everything You Need to Know.
Consuming your herb orally does not involve inhalation, thus eliminating the risk associated with lung exposure to heated materials. That said, each method has its own set of benefits and effects, so it’s worth exploring to find what best suits you based on your lifestyle, desired effects, and health goals.
