Although I don’t dislike this strain, it’s not among my very favorites. It doesn’t provide a bad experience, I just wouldn’t put it up there with the likes of Gelato or Ice Cream Candy, for example. But that’s just based on my experience and on what I personally look for in a strain. You might actually love it. It is a very popular strain with a great reviews, and a huge following. I mean, let’s be honest, it must have something special if the Dookie Brothers managed to cultivate a bud of Zkittles so good that it took first place at the 2016 Emerald Cup.

It could just come down to personal taste, or sometimes I wonder whether what I got was simply a bad batch, or that the strain I was given as “Zkittlez” was actually something else.

Like with all the write-ups here, don’t take my word for it, give it a try yourself and let us know what you think.

Let’s break it down objectively now.

Zkittles is an indica-dominant hybrid strain first bred by 3rd Gen Family Farms and Terp Hogz, by crossing Grape Ape and Grapefruit strains. There are some claims however that there is an undisclosed third parent.

This genetic lineage contributes to its distinctive tropical fruity flavor and balanced effects. Zkittles quickly gained world-wide interest, especially after taking the Best Indica Flower award at the 2015 Michigan Cannabis Cup and then first place at the 2016 Emerald Cup.

As you can probably guess, the strain name comes from the sweet brand name Skittles®, but is often written as “Zkittlez” or “Zkittles” to avoid trademark issues. The name comes from the strain’s sweet, candy-like aroma and flavor profile.

THC levels are decent. It can typically range between 16%-22%. I think this is a good level and you should feel the relaxing effects of the indica.
